Times of Day: Night
The blackgirdled Nyx was the goddess of the night and a primeval goddess usually represented as simply the substance of night: She ia a veil of dark mist drawn forth from the underworld which blotted out the light of Aither (shining upper atmosphere).
The many-eyed embroidery of blue-black Nyx is one of the very first created beings, for she is described as the daughter of Chaos (the Gap/Air), and the sister of Erebus (the Darkness), by whom she became the mother of Aether (the Light/Bright Upper Air) and Hemera (the Day). Alone, she spawned a brood of dark spirits, including the three Fates, the Keres, Hypnos (the Sleep), Thanatos (gentle Death), the Dreams, Strife and Pain and many more!
Great-bosomed Nyx is the subduer of gods and men, and relates that Zeus himself stood in awe of her!
