|#Persephone is the #GreekGoddess of the Underworld and the Renewal of Spring.
Sweet as honey Persephone is both, goddess of life and death! As a vegetation goddess she is called #Kore (maiden), who is identified with the spring, the fertility of vegetation, and more specifically of the spring growth, as well as crops and fruits.
Gloomy Hades, the god of the Underworld fell in love with trim-ankled Kore, so he wanted to make her his bride, and with Zeus' help secretly he kidnapped her. Because her mother Demeter was too sad about her loss, that as result vegetation withered. Now as the dreadly queen of Underworld, she is also called Despoina "the mistress of the house".
Earth flourishes when the great Goddess returns each spring from the underworld, where she is the formidable, venerable majestic princess, who brings punishment upon the souls of those who are damned, along with her husband. Pure Kore is the all-pervading goddess of nature who both originates and destroys!
