|Because I had so much fun with my #Mulan retelling, I thought I'd give "Mulan 2" a try, although it will be very different from the movie sequel.
For several days, everything was blissful between Fa Mulan and Li Shang. The couple went on quiet walks together, happy just to be in one another's company, sometimes being so bold as to hold hands. Mulan's family, especially her mother and grandmother, scrutinized the new general thoroughly during meals and outings together, and decided that he was, in fact, good enough for their daughter, if anyone could be. Shang himself, thinking that his talk with Mulan upon his arrival had settled things, asked her to marry him... or at least he tried to. Every time he got close to bringing up the subject, Fa Mulan would rapidly shy away, either changing the topic, or if that didn't forestall him, suddenly finding somewhere else she urgently needed to be. Li Shang didn't understand her reluctant behavior, and became frustrated. (cont)
