| The Ainur that decided to go to Middle-Earth were known as the Valar (spirits of higher order) and Maiar (spirits of lesser order). The Maiar would be affiliated with one of the Valar. For example, Uinen and Ossë served Ulmo, Mairon and Curumo Aulë. |
