A Rcent History of Dragons
It was the dragons that allowed humans to evolve into the civilised creatures they are now. For if the dragons had so wished it would not have been hard to wipe the humans out before they populated most of the world. Dragons with their great longevity and their super natural abilities became the deities humans would worship for the rest of time.
Their abilities range and differer depending on the ( )eed or kin as the dragons themselves have put it. Although there at least two shard traits that cross all ( )eeds. Their ability to shape shift and ( )eathe fire. Dragons often use shape shifting to experience life as a human. There are five ( )eeds in total to date, although the lore states that their was once another ( )eed that has since been considered extinct known as the ash dragons. Each kin of dragon has a Queen which lesser dragons instinctual follow. The Queen is responsible for the well being of her kin and depending of their attachment to humans, for their followers well being also. The current active ( )eeds are the sea, fire, forest, shadow and everflight dragons.
Sea dragons are the intellectual ( )eed and are often found in the depths of the seas and oceans. Where they construct massive cities and attempt to populate them with little success as dragons are incredibly difficult to ( )eed amongst themselves, which is made for with their longevity. Their unique abilities includes their ability to remain under water for years at a time, seemingly unaffected by the pressure at sea floor levels. They are also said to have perfect memories, which is comes in handy for information gathering. the Their current Queen, Naida has not been seen a century. Not without however leaving her followers a message in her temple. “I go to build the cities that will one day rise to meet the last war.”
Fire dragons are the most common and the most aggressive ( )eed. They do however adore the attention of their human followers and their offerings of gold coins. Their unique abilities are there ability to consume minerals to enhance their fire. Their last queen having perished in the war have since retreated back to their territory Crimson Fields. Where since the queen's only son, Arkin has become Lord of his kin. There has been speculation that Lord Arkin has been leaving his dragon kin to take human form among royalty in the city of Goldrock.
Forest dragons are the far more gentle in nature than their counter parts, however they are deeply protective of their territory and use their shape shifting powers to become parts of forests and mountains. They've a unique infinity for the planets vegetation and appear to share a empathic link with the eldest of trees. Their current Queen sustained a tremendous amount of damage during the final battle in the last dragon war. Some speculate she has perished, but others believe that her daughter, high priestess Neoma tends to her mother in the Nyth Forests.
Shadow dragons are by nature elusive creatures, having the ability to summon dark clouds and storms to cover their flight. Yet they have a great deal of time for their human following. Their prior Queen perished not long after the last dragon war ended. Her daughter Ciardha was so saddened by the passing of her mother, her dark hair/mane changed to white over night.
The unique ( )eed among them is the everflight dragons, as the are born, live and die in the sky. As a result of this they ever the least documented and have not been in contact with the other ( )eeds since the last war between kins. However they maintain a human following, which claim that the everflight dragons will return to land one day.
From the annuls and prior records we know that Ash Dragons were by far the largest kin of dragons and we're considered by the other kins to be the Mother kin. They had a stony grey exterior and even in a human form were caked in Ash. The entire ( )eed was wiped out during the last war between the dragon kins. Surprisingly there was little to no human following for ash dragons as they openly despised humans.
The First War Between Kin
In the annuls it is recorded that the great war between the dragon kins came about due to the ash Queen at the time, Kera's refusal disavow the hunting of humans. It was also the last time the everflight dragons landed was to stand against Kera and the fire dragon Queen Gwinith that had allied with her. Between the two armies they managed to nearly kill the forest Queen Damia and managed to burn half of the forests of Nyth. Yet it was the defeat at the combined strength of the sea and shadow dragons retaliasion in defense of Damia that turned the tides at the battle of Locus fields. Where the two armies killed Queen Yoko and seeing her armies retreat under the steam of her son.
Without the aid of the fire dragons, Kera made for a last stand against the united kins forces. The battle lasted for almost four days and it was Queen Asalie of the everflight dragons who delivered the fatal blow to the ash queen. Kera never had any children and was the only the female among her kin, without her the remaining ash dragons died out.
A month or so after the war ended, the queens assembled along with Lord Arkin of the fire dragons. There a treaty was agreed to that no dragon would pray upon humans and that no kin would try to take another's territory. As for the ash dragons territory in the mountains, it was agreed that the humans needed new lands after the devastation of the war.
