I have heard sailor's tales of the one they call Leilani. They say on stormy days- "Leilani is angry. It is not wise to sail" On calm days, they tell me- "Leilani is in a good mood, and you would do best to appreciate her good will"
To think that this is the great Leilani they speak of! A girl, no more than 16, she lays half submerged in the water. A pretty face, boyish in some aspects, is framed with short, mousy brown locks, cut in a modern style. Her eyes draw you in: one blue, one green, like her genetics could not decide between the two. Tan skin, like that of a surfer, shimmers with the sea water across her clotheless front, and a cross between a serpent's and a fish's tail fuses to her smooth, bare stomach where her legs should be. Flowing fins protrude from her hips, as well as fan-like fins at the tip of her tail. It is a soft blue-green, and black tribal tattoos dot her body occasionally. Odd sea-glass jewelry adorns her limbs as well as various ocean flora. Her webbed fingers gripping the stone, she eyes me with a curious look. Is she really the powerful Leilani sailors fear?
