Twilight realm: Another reality of earth, generally believed to be a gift from the Ilu and Ilat to their children. A sanctuary for all Nephilians and other beings.
Nephilian: Bearers of divine blood, offsprings of unions between divine and humans, or through a bond with gods, survivors of the age of myth. The major Nephilean races are Lylthians, Morrigans, Sylvana Witches and Alu Sages. Also there is another one, Iretapepmesu. They are from a chaotic god, Aapep the moon serpent. Nephilians can travel freely between realms.
All Nephilians were born/created with marks, something to distinguish them from humans. Lylthian: eyes of star/night; unnaturely light or dark eyes. Damian: eyes of blood; red eyes. Iretmose: Iretaapep; sepentine featured eyes. Witch: Fae Legency; all those from the bloodline of Sylvana have red in their hair and green in their eyes, also there are leaf vein or vine patterns in their eyes. Morrigan: Heterochromia eyes, silver and red. Alu sage: eyes of knowledge, golden eyes. Yelaadim: mark of wings.
Alu sage: Descendants of Zahallu. Very little is known for they are believed to have died out. They were said to be blessed with wisdom above all and were very intelligent. Their most profound features were their golden eyes. Sages passed down their knowledge through direct mind-to-mind interaction for words are limited. Only an Alu Sage can hear the echoes of his ancestors, only two Sages can achieve a sympathetical state, a resonate of minds. Alu Sages were the guardians of knowledge, they respected knowledge that comes in any and all forms. However, Yelaadim wish to achieve a unison in ideas...so the Sages were almost exterminated during the Scourge. Also there is one hidden reason that Yelaadim aimed at them first. The Sages were rumored to hold the secrets of the Philosopher's stone and the Elixir of Immortality, a man's made guilty because of his wealthy.
Hunter: Civilian defence force against the 'monsters'. They are not exactly allied with the Yelaadim for their methods are deemed extreme to them. Some of the hunters are in fact, not hostile to the common shadowlings. The Guild of Rosenschwert (rose sword) was orignially founded during the Scourge, named as Zelldaca (shadow dagger) Squad at that time, as an inferior to the Yelaadim's b.rotherhood. Lesser Yelaadim and witches' sons whose mothers and sisters had been burnt on the stakes were its core members. They did the dirty works for Yelaadim, but later split out due to division in ideas. Till today they remain the defenders of commonfolks.
Hunters' Ranking (low to high):
Magister/Magistrix (master/mistress of the masters)
Also there is a group of Iudexes to oversee the hunters, making sure they work adhere to their code of conduct. The leader of the Iudexes is called Chief Iudex, or Princeps Iudicem if you are aiming for formal.
Vouivre: Humanoid dragon species, majority are females, hunted by men to the edge of extinction for the gemstones on their foreheads which are told to grant wisdom or wealth. Normally appear as beautiful young women with grey or greyish blue, green or purple skin, very light-coloured hair, usually white, silver or pale blond and elf-like pointy ears. They can also take the form of ordinary human females and a more draconic form with wings, scales, tails and claws. Generally very human unfriendly, should you gain the favour of one, that's another story.
Black iron / Anbars͎almū (an-bal-Tsahl-moo): A mineral native only to the Twilight Realm. Its metallicity sits between copper and iron, more active than the former and duller than the later. Alone this element is very hard but fragile, but if mixed with iron, an alloy much stronger than steel can be created. During the age of cold weapon, a fine human sword was no match to a common Lylthian black steel blade. But modern science and technology surely turn the table for humans. Still, the world of shadow evolves with the earth realm.
Platinum silver / Litêllā (li-Tel-lah): Silver in Lylthian culture is held more precious than gold. But it is not any silver, but Litêllā, the pure silver. With the metallicity between platinum and gold, this alien metal is even more malleable than silver, and much stable. But alone, the platinum silver is very soft. Its alloys with silver or other precious metals are the best of claddings. This alien metal is the source of the superstitious belief that creatures of night are afraid of silver. The truth is, giving the right proportion, platinum silver alloys counter Nephilians' healing abilities (All Nephilians including Yelaadim). The wounds cause by platinum silver will not heal until treated properly, which incurs excessive bleeding and eventually, death. Still this silver is highly valued among the Nephilians, many of their crowns, staff and ceremonial instruments are made of its alloys.
Divine Crystal /Ạduša (ay-Do-sha): These fluorescent crystals are believed to be the materialisation of Ilu's and Ilati's divine power, the power source of the Twilight Realm. The Nephilians have the knowledge to tame their row energy and transform them into everyday power supply. These crystals are rechargeable under sun or moonlight through certain devices. Their energy loses three times faster on earth than in the twilight realm. A type of obsidian crystal is particularly favoured by the Lylthians, for it is believed to contain Amainna's divine power. Legend has it that the largest obsidian crystal was carved into a throne by the ancient Lylthian craftmen, Aštînna (a-shi-Teen-nah, ašte+inna) it was called, the dark throne. Whosoever sits upon the dark throne shall rule the night.
