“Ok, here’s the low down on this school.”
Nick really did never shut up. Sure he was nice. He was a good guy, he just never stopped talking. Go away, Aaron thought with all his heart. He just wanted to be left alone.
“You have the pops, the geeks, the loners, emos, jocks, drug users, and then the one who are just normal. Just your normal small town school. You’ll fit right in, I’m sure of it. And you will have a girlfriend fast, my friend.”
Where is my locker? Aaron needed an excuse to get away, and he needed one fast. People had already begun to whisper when he walked by, look at him when they thought he wasn’t looking. By now Aaron was use to it, but he still didn’t like it. Nick was not making it any better.
Just as he found his locker, Nick hit his arm.
“What?” Aaron snapped at him. Sam just nodded.
What Aaron’s eye’s found were five girls. All of them drop dead gorgeous. Everyone in the hall got out of there way and stared at them. Girls shot daggers at them guys drooled over them.
One was dark and looked deadly. The one with ( )own hair looked sweet. Another had blonde hair and grey eyes. One was all golden. But the most beautiful was pale and had purple-or violet- eyes and flames for hair, she was clearly the leader. None of them stopped to gawk at him like the other students. They just walked by and went on with their life.
“What the hell were they?”
Aaron was still in shock. In all his moves, in all the towns, no person had been as beautiful as them. Nick made a noise like he was coming back from a faraway place.
“That was the Deadly Five. No one knows anything about them, just that they’re hot. They never keep a boyfriend though. So don’t get your hopes up. But when they have one, the guy acts all weird. Like he would take a bullet for her. Then after a few weeks, one of the Five dump him and the guy mourns them then goes back to normal, like nothing ever happened. Weird huh?”
“Yeah. Weird.” Aaron answered. Even as he said it he felt chills down his spine.
Then the bell rang.
Callista was bored. Her teacher was droning on about Greek legends, he was failing. The only reason Callista and her sister’s went to school was to find the victims. She and her sister’s all knew the answers to every paper, quiz, test, and final. Hell, they could teach the class. Probably do a better job too. She had already finished her test, making sure to make some mistakes so the teacher would not get suspicious. None of them- except Iliana- wanted to be in the advanced placement program. That just meant more work for them.
What Callista couldn’t get out of her head, was the new boy. Now he was good looking as far as humans went. He was tall, dark haired and had eyes the color of the sea after a storm. He was too new for the Five to go after him. He had to be under their spell before they could do anything. Then there was Lilith. She would have heard about him by now, and would have to check him to see if he was ‘worthy of her daughter’s’ as she put it.
Callista was beginning to become hungry and tired; they would have to feed tonight. Callista had to find a boy to ( )ing. John, she thought. He was always looking at her and would do anything for her. She hoped he still would, because this was a task few would want to do.
Just then the final bell rang. And Callista packed up her things, dropped in her test and went looking for John.
She had just walked out the door when something ran into her knocking her down.
Great, now I’ll have to run to get him. The thought ran though her head.
“Crap. I am so sorry. I didn’t even see you there. Man, I’m sorry.”
Callista looked up; the new boy was looking at her with a look of worry on his face. She kept eye contact so as not to ( )eak the spell.
“Really, I’m ok. No harm no foul. Right?” Callista smiled a beautiful smile and held up her hand. The new kid grabbed it and Callista felt electrical shocks run up her arm and through her body. Their eyes locked and she couldn’t look away. As much as she wanted to, needed to, she couldn’t.
Callista jumped and let go of his hand and turned to Kari, who was looking at her strangely.
“Come on we need to go get ready for tonight. We have to look our best.” Kari was very gentle when she wanted to be, but Callista had seen her crack a skull without a second thought. She could never do that.
“Yes I know. But I have to ask someone something first.” Callista violet eyes had a hidden message in them telling her not to say any more on the subject.
“Well, hurry up. Nara wants to go and Iliana has a test tomorrow to study for.”
“Ok. Tell them to wait for me by the food court. Is Rhea coming?”
“No, she has her Taoist class and wants to meditate before she goes.” At this Kari rolled her eyes and sighed.
“Kay well, meet you guys by the car?” please I have to find John soon.
“Alright, just hurry.” With that she spun on her heel and walked away.
“Is that your sister?” Aaron asked from behind Callista.
“Yes one of four. Nara, Kari, Iliana, and Rhea. That one was Kari. Look I’m sorry but I really do have to go find someone now. It was nice meeting you, maybe we can talk later. Bye!”
She walked as fast as she could to the gym, where she knew John would be practicing basketball. Just as she suspected, he was there with a few other guys playing the game. She slowed her walk to a stroll. One of John’s friends nudged him and nodded in Callista’s way. She smiled and curled her finger as if to say ‘come here’.
John did not walk over to her; he strutted over to where she was. Callista smiled again. It was just too easy.
“Hi John,” she put on her best smile. John’s answering smile was a little shaky from it.
“Um, hey Callista. Uh what’s up?” Trying to play it cool, it made Callista smile again and John shivered.
“Well, my sisters and I are going night swimming tonight down by Forest Ridge, and I was hoping you would go with me.” She batted her eye lashes and smiled again.
John was having a hard time working his throat. He had to be the luckiest guy at Creek Way High the hottest of the Deadly Five asking him out.
“Um, yeah. I uh, I uh would love to go with you.” He still couldn’t believe it.
“Great! My sisters and I will pick you up at; let’s say 7:00 P.M.?”
“Yeah, 7:00 P.M. great can’t wait.”
“See you then. Good luck with your game.”
Walking away she thought of what would happen tonight. They would go to Pine Lake and then the boys would be lucky to escape with their lives.
Aaron followed Callista to see where she was going. She went to the gym, talked to some guy then left. Aaron had felt a surge of jealousy when she had talked to the guy. She had smiled a lot when she spoke to him. Was that her boyfriend? Did she like him?
Get a grip, Aaron told himself mentally. He just got to this town and now what? He was falling in love? He couldn’t fall in love, he had always been careful. Never get too close, never put yourself in danger. But, she was different. Sure every guy wanted her, but she had stopped and talked to him. Then there was that weird feeling that he got when they had touched. . .
I need to go home, he thought. And away he went.
