@spazattack14 There were Shieldmaidens in that time period, women who chose to fight as a warrior. The Valkyrie, of Norse mythology, may have been derived from Shieldmaidens!
@spazattack14 Women where still often trained to defend themselves in the event of an attack on their home when the man was away. They may not have FOUGHT, but they where still trained to fight in the purpose of defence. =3
Okay, you guys.. This game has black.. it just looks like brown because of stylistic colour choices. If you notice, nothing in this game actually goes to true black. See the outlines? They are brown because that is the darkest colour appearing... as if it's a sunset and there's a reddish glow over everything. If you paint or dabble in photography you'll notice that colours don't always appear the same (black hair in a sunset won't be #000000)
Interesting article, spazattack :) Ive read about women and men doing all stuff that the law is against, maybe it was from before the laws came or maybe these men and women were just breaking the law? It probably was pretty hard to make everyone follow laws at those times, as bloodthirsty as people were...
As a side note, women were held in respect, though. They were the financial advisers and landowners. Oh, and I apologize, the link isn't working, but can be fixed by putting a slash in between the http and the www. Just choose the first hit that pops up. Also, there's a reason this is in both the historical and fantasy sections :)
Okay, for everyone who's debating about whether or not viking women battled, here's an article explaining it: httpwww.hurstwic.org/history/articles/society/text/women.htm And, to basically sum it up, no, viking women were not allowed to participate in any battles. Most laws forbade them from even cutting their hair short, wearing men's clothes and holding weapons.
