The Theory Behind This Method:

Most major corporations have banned together to stop Flash because it posed too much competition for the various app stores, which cut into their profit shares. The key to getting Flash Player to work in-browser in 2021 and beyond is simply to pair an old (non-updating) version of Flash Player, with either an older version of one of the major browsers or a hip, indie browser which doesn't have a financial interest in quashing Flash.

If you can't get this work, you can also check out this excellent Flash desktop hack recommended by Azalea! Otherwise, have no fear! In a few months, the Ruffle Flash emulator will be complete and all of the Flash games here will work again, without any work on your end.

Flash Player was an incredibly powerful and easy-to-use authoring tool that allowed even the most amateur of creators bring their artistic visions to life. It allowed an incredibly wide array of features to play quickly and accurately in the browser, including layer effects, filters, vector graphics and animations. And it still is a very powerful creation tool, being able to export to many alternate platforms.

1. Uninstall Current Flash Version (if needed)

- Use this link to check whether Flash Player is installed
- If not, go to step 2
- If it is, you need to uninstall it
- For Macs, follow these instructions
- For Windows: go to your Control Panel (this varies a bit depending on your windows version but you can usually go to your Start/Windows button and search for the Control Panel there)
- Find the option to "Add or Remove Programs" or "Uninstall Programs" etc.
- Look to see if "Adobe Flash Player" is installed
- It will most likely say "Adobe Flash Player 32" if it was updating automatically
- If it's there, select it and uninstall it
- If it's not there, go on to the next step

2. Install an older version of Flash Player

- Download the installer for Adobe Flash Player version 29
- Archive.org has the Windows version and Mac version. And I believe Linux is the first link in this list
- Run the installer
- When it asks about updates, make sure to select the non-recommended option to NEVER check for updates
- Finish installation

3. [Windows] Install an alternate browser

- Download and install either the Pale Moon browser, WaterFox browser, or, an an older version of Firefox.
- Follow the instructions for installing the browser
- After installation is complete, Flash should be working :)

3. [Apple] Install an alternate browser

- Download and install the
Waterfox browser for macOS, or alterately, download an older version of Firefox browser from oldversion.com.
- If the older version of Flash was successfully installed, these browsers should now be able to run old Flash games :)

Why won't this work on Chromebooks?

This actually can work on Chromebooks, but it requires more advanced knowledge of emulating operating systems. Basically, you have to install Ubuntu to make your Chromebook behave more like a proper computer. This isn't recommended for beginners, but it might be something to look into if you want your Chromebook to be more powerful.
